Experienced a Major Life Change?

If you experience a major life change, you can enroll in a covered health insurance plan outside of the normal open-enrollment period. Most special-enrollment periods last 60 days from the date of the major life change. For most qualifying life events, your coverage will start on the first day of the following month after you select a plan. Have you experienced one of these changes lately?   If so, call us.

Exclusive Enrollment Partners Program

Our Exclusive Enrollment Partners (EEPs) can refer potential clients to us for assistance in enrolling them in health insurance for free. Our online process will help with the entire online application process — filling out the application, submitting the application, updating life changes, and selecting a plan.

Once our partner's potential client is enrolled in one of their

in-network insurance plans, we refer the consumer back to the EEP for their services at no cost to the consumer or the community partner.  We refer to this as our covered boomerang effect.

To simplify the consumer enrollment partner process,
complete our contact us form and one of our certified enrollment counselors will contact you soon.

Privacy and Security

Personally Identifiable Information (PII) must remain secure
and confidential in accordance with Shalom Empire Insurance's security and privacy policies, including all applicable laws and regulations. The community enrollment partners must ensure that they handle this information appropriately. Remember that emails with consumer PII must be encrypted or secured.

Read our Privacy and Security page to ensure you comply with our rules.

Special Groups

The path to affordable health coverage is easy. If you fall under one of these groups, we can assist you with selecting a health plan that fits your needs and budget. Ask us about other groups not listed.

Self Employed

Health plans that cover people who work for themselves. Freelancers, independent contractors, and other people who do not have staff make up a significant percentage of the Marketplace users.

Students

Most students, unless they qualify for an exemption, will have to purchase health insurance or face a tax penalty.

While enrolled in student health insurance, they will not have to pay a penalty.

Unemployed People

Unemployed people may be able to get a health plan through the Marketplace that includes savings based on household size and income. You or your family members could also qualify for free or low-cost coverage through
the Marketplace.

Under 30 People

People under age 26 can stay on a parent’s health
plan.  If someone claims you as a dependent, you can buy a plan through the Marketplace, but it will not come with financial help, no matter your income.  Students should explore the option of enrolling in a student health plan.

Pregnant Individuals

Having a baby means you qualify for special enrollment – in other words, you can enroll through the Marketplace even if it’s outside the regular open enrollment period. Your plan would be effective the day your baby is born.

Pre-existing Condition

A pre-existing condition is any illness or condition a patient has before obtaining insurance.
In the past, people could be barred from getting a health plan because of a pre-existing condition, but this is no longer grounds for refusing to sell someone insurance.

Loss of Medicaid Coverage or Ineligibility

You may be eligible for helath coverage if you no longer qualify for Mediciad or do not meet the requirements due to changes in your income, household size, other eligibilty criteria.

Immigration Status & Health Coverage

Under the Affordable Care Act, most immigrants qualify for health coverage such as:

Lawful permanent residents (green card holders).

Lawful temporary residents.

Non-immigrant status holders (including worker visas and
student visas).

FAQS

When can I apply?

Open enrollment for the Marketplace starts in the fall. Even when open enrollment is over, individuals with qualifying life events can enroll at any time of the year. Marketplace enrollment is also year-round.

What is open enrollment?

Open enrollment is the time of year when everyone can apply for a plan through the Marketplace. This usually happens from November to January.  Outside open enrollment, people who experience qualifying life events can apply during special enrollment.

Does the Marketplace offer health coverage for small businesses?

Yes. Contact us to learn about the benefits for small businesses and their employees.

Is the Marketplace an insurance company?

No.  The Marketplace is where individuals can get brand-name health insurance under the Affordable Care Act and see if they qualify for financial help to pay their monthly premiums.

Is the Marketplace the best option for me?

This health insurance marketplace lets you purchase a health plan, with or without financial help. What you pay for insurance depends on your income. Some people do not qualify for financial help, so for them, it might be more cost-effective to enroll in a plan directly through a health insurance company. Contact us for more assistance.
